Examples of Digital PoE CCTV Camera types
Below are all PoE CCTV cameras suitable for an NVR.
PoE cameras connect to the NVR (Network Video Recorder) directly via a single ethernet cable and the power for the camera goes directly from the NVR recorder box down the ethernet cable and powers the camera. The CCTV camera recordings flow back down the same cable to the NVR.
This allows for the cameras to be placed almost anywhere as there is no need for a power supply to be nearby.
Security Cameras and CCTV systems come in various styles and various functions. Some CCTV cameras are fixed lens and others are varifocal which means they can zoom in and out of the subject.

Some examples of Items Required For A CCTV System

A CCTV system needs an NVR or a DVR. They record the data from the cameras. An NVR can push power to the cameras via a single cable. Inside the NVR / DVR will be one or two hard drives depending on how many cameras you have and how many days worth of recordings you want. 30 days or a good rule of thumb.
Above is an example of a dome camera. These can be fixed lens or PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom).
We prefer to install these cameras indoors / under cover as we find rain drops, condensation can mist up the image and we've replaced a number of these that had been installed outdoors by previous installers.
Above is a fixed lens mini bullet cctv camera. This particular camera is a wide lens (2.8mm) with a 4MP resolution. If you notice below the main lens, there is an opening for LED lights that provide ambient lighting which allows for a colour image at night. Comes in white or black.
This is our CCTV camera of choice. It is very robust and can be rotated to any position and angle. This particular CCTV model comes with a built in audible alarm, built in microphone and LED lights that can act as a strobe warning alongside the audible warning from the speaker. Images are excellent

Large, Industrial type PTZ CCTV camera which offers 180 degree field of view, 6MP resolution with optical zoom capabilities.
Its technology focuses on human and vehicle targets and supports face capture to detect, capture and select faces in motion and has an active strobe light and audio to warn off intruders.
Small, cube camera, perfect for coffee shops or small retailers. Built in microphone, excellent image quality but it's an indoor camera only.
We've installed these at Care homes, Nurseries, Coffee shops and offices.
Good price, excellent image but not as well built as other cameras. Still a very good option.
This CCTV is a more recent addition. It consists of two lenses in a single body to provide a 180 degree view.
You can have two turret cameras back to back to provide the same result but the cost is very similar and this option is neater.
It also comes in black and has audible and strobe light warning.
This is a fish eyed lens camera that takes 360 degree views and is great for hallways that have multiple doorways to various rooms, entrances and exits.
Fish eyed CCTV cameras are usually warped images but technology now allows for the stitching of images so they look "flat" and no longer warped.
It's worth noting that most of these cameras come with an excess of cable called a "pig tail" that comes from the camera itself. In order to hide that cable and keep connections waterproof, a mounting bracket, or junction box, is needed.
The junction box is mounted to a wall or ceiling and then the camera is mounted onto that with any excess cable coiled into that junction box.
